NYC Fashion Week Wrap Up

The past month has been an incredible whirlwind! Here's my take on a few of the designers/showrooms I came across :

Norman Ambrose

I visited haute couture designer, Norman Ambrose's showroom last week to view his Spring/Summer 2011 RTW and evening gown collection andwas absolutely amazed by the beauty of it all! With price points ranging from $3,500 to $20,000, each look highlights Mr. Ambrose's commitment to luxury, superior craftsmanship and intricate detailing. I'll provide pictures of the Spring/Summer looks once they become available to the public, but you can learn more about Norman Ambrose here and check out a few looks from his AW 2010 collection below:

Nicholas K
Unfortunately, I wasn't able to attend the show (it was super early AM) but did check out the afterparty that night at The Eldridge and had a chance to chat with the designer. You can check out a snippet of the show here. I really appreciated the Spring collection's mix of rustic, industrial inspired layered ensembles.

Bibhu Mohapatra
I absolutely ADORED the looks from this presentation, but that may be because I'm a true girly girl and can't get enough of ultra feminine cocktail dresses with sleek silhouettes. The collection was definitely an exciting take on mod glamour.

Dennis Basso
The luxury fur king, Dennis Basso is one of the most high profile and admittedly my favorite show of the week. (thanks to my new gig I sat front row a few seats down from Andre Leon Talley!) The entire collection was a tribute to "the girl who loves to go out" and included limited fur, but an array of flirty, bouncy sexy dresses that the models wore with pastel and lucite heels.

Alexander Wang

I recently started an internship here to assist with Market Week and have been surrounded with Mr. Wang's SS 2011 looks. This Spring he's switched his signature black styles for greens, whites and blush colors in crepe, chiffon and foil! Check out some looks from the show below and all of the runway looks here :

I also checked out a few new faces at the Metropolitan Pavillion. Indashio, whose show was really fun, featured Amber Rose as their premiere model along with Jaslene Gonzales from America's Next Top Model and Angelina Pivarnik from Jersey Shore. Other notables in attendance were Ron Artest and Kat DeLuna. Indashio's spring collection showcased bright, flashy sequin dresses with spikes and lots of gold lame.

I'm hoping to see a bit more from Verlaine. Reminiscient of Alexander Wang's downtown grunge, I'd say Verlaine is definitely a brand to watch.

Designer Spotlight: Organic by John Patrick

Last Tuesday I attended the Organic by John Patrick Spring/Summer 2011 presentation at the Ace Hotel and I must say I was truly blown away! Inspired by water, the collection is a fresh spin on classic feminine looks with floppy hats, floral prints and below the knee hemlines.

The new line embodies the spirit of water from the tender to the tragic, and as Patrick laments, “from floods to falls to lack thereof.” Hoping to rouse reverence in a resource that is central to being, Organic’s eco-conscious SS 2011 is grounded in Patrick’s need to do more to protect the environment. Designer Spotlight: Tracy Reese

If I was asked to name a designer whose collection I could live my life in, Tracy Reese would definitely be at the top of my list. With a repetoire of unabashedly flirty dresses and jazzy sequins, Tracy Reese combines soft femininity and trendy sophistication with pieces that can easily transition from a day in the office to a sexy after-work cocktail party

I am SUPER excited about the expansion of her Plenty line, which now includes footwear! Her vintage-inspired styles are right in step with the Fall season's return to classic glamour and are budget friendly with prices ranging from $99 to $199.

What to Wear?

Hey Lovelies!

So, great news today! I was invited to interview for an Analyst position at an Accessories company. If you currently work in fashion or are looking for work in fashion, then you know what a feat snagging an interview is and can imagine why I'm on Cloud 9 right now.

Dressing for interviews, especially a fashion interview, is always a pretty big deal. For this job in particular, I need an outift that not only says I'm professional and stylish, but subtly hits on this season's trends since I'm going for a position that's all about being in the know. I'm going to have to do some serious shopping later this evening, but that's never a bad thing. :)

Here are a few of my favorite interview looks courtesy of ShopBop.
